01 · Overview

What is XEQM?

XEQM is a privacy cryptocurrency network and the official open-source desktop wallet used to send, receive, and stake the asset. It is software — there is no XEQM-branded hardware device. The network is the latest evolution in a lineage that began with Monero's CryptoNote-derived privacy stack, continued through the Equilibria (XEQ) hybrid proof-of-work / proof-of-stake project, and now lands in XEQM with hardened cryptography, native subaddressing, and an Oxen-derived service-node layer.

Every transaction on XEQM is private by default. There is no opt-in shielded pool, no transparent chain to fall back to, and no analytics infrastructure embedded in the wallet binary. The cryptographic primitives — RingCT for amount confidentiality, Bulletproofs+ for compact range proofs, stealth addresses for recipient unlinkability, and ring signatures with 16-input anonymity sets — operate together so that the public ledger reveals only that a valid transaction occurred, never who sent how much to whom.

02 · Self-custody

Why a separate wallet matters

Custodial exchanges and browser extensions can be convenient, but they replace cryptographic ownership with a username, a password, and a counterparty. The XEQM desktop wallet is non-custodial: your 25-word recovery seed is generated on your machine, never transmitted, and is the only thing that can spend your funds. The wallet ships with a built-in daemon so you can run against a local full node, or you can point it at a community-operated remote node when you need quick sync.

Three features make the desktop client the recommended interface for serious users:

  • Unlimited subaddresses

    Issue a fresh receiving address for every counterparty without revealing the parent wallet.

  • View-only wallets

    Watch balances on a hardened machine while keeping spend keys on an offline device.

  • Inline staking

    Lock 200,000 XEQM as collateral directly from the wallet — no third-party dashboard.

Who should use XEQM

XEQM is built for people who treat financial privacy as a default expectation rather than a niche feature: journalists protecting sources, contractors invoicing across borders, donors supporting causes that attract surveillance, and any holder who simply prefers their balance and transaction graph stay off public dashboards. It is also a working environment for developers and operators — the codebase is GPL-3 licensed on the xeqmwallet GitHub organization, and the network is operated by a globally distributed set of service nodes rather than a single foundation.
